Vacancy, Rats, Mice, and Rodents NOT Welcome Here

Wintertime in North Florida offers little reprieve from the normal pests that often infest our homes throughout the other seasons of the year. Jack Frost and Ole’ Man Winter rarely let it get cold enough here to have a noticeable and profound impact on our pest populations. However, the warmth and protection offered by our homes tends to give Rodents, Mice, and Rats a welcoming vacancy sign for them to set up shop inside our living spaces and homes. By being vigilant of the upkeep around our residences, living spaces and offices we can close shop on our rent-free resorts (homes) for these pesky critters.

Rodents can survive almost anywhere where they can stay cozy and comfy with food sources readily available to be foraged upon. In the United States alone, Rodents cause billions of dollars in damage yearly. Rats, mice, and other rodents enter our homes through many ways. They find holes and cracks in walls, floor and foundations, gaps in windows and ceilings, as well as through our sewer lines. Unsettling as it may seem, if our drainage pipes, gas lines, and household plumbing have not been properly sealed and maintained they may find their way in through there. These pesky Rodents find their way even into our homes through sinks and bathtubs. Regular home, office, and building maintenance and upkeep will certainly help keep them at bay and maybe give a little more peace of mind throughout the year.

Winter! When we hear this word we may think of nice warm homes, holidays and the meals that follow them, fireplaces, and hot cocoa. Rodents, Mice and Rats share some of these same soothing thoughts. As stated by the experts at Live Oak Pest Control, falling temperatures and lessening of the outdoor nutrients and foods gives to a driving force for these pests to invade our homes. Normally Rodents live off the land, local vegetation, fields of corps, or near garbage tossed aside during the warmer months of a North Florida year but they are pushed to relocate into our residences when good ole’ Jack Frost starts to appear and play with our climates.

So, when the temperatures drop, the nights gets longer and Ole’ Man Winter begins to play, make sure to take precautions, fix holes, fill in cracks and gaps to begin to prevent a possible infestation. Don’t be afraid to be aggressive! Don’t underestimate, or you might be the next home to welcome unsightly, pesky pests. And always remember if the Rodents, Rats, and Mice come a knocking call the experts at Live Oak Pest Control.
